Your Way or God’s Way?

“Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.” (Matthew 21:9)

Jesus entered Jerusalem as the crowds thronged Him crying “Hosanna”. One week later they were again thronging Him but now they were crying “crucify Him.” What could cause a people to turn from words of commendation to condemnation in just seven days?
The reason lays at the root of their real desire. Their real desire was not to have a spiritual savior, but a physical King.  What they wanted and what they needed were two different things.

They wanted a king riding on a white stallion, but what they needed was a humble servant riding on a donkey. They wanted a King that would sit upon a throne, but what they needed was the Son of God hanging on a cross . They wanted a king that would establish a kingdom, but what they needed was a sacrifice to cleanse them of their sins. They wanted a King that would rule fairly, but what they needed was a risen Savior that would give them power over sin. Imagine if they had gotten their way and not God’s way. They would have been prideful and arrogant. They would have been selfish and self centered. They would have lusted and been overtaken by sin. If they had gotten their way then there would be no servant that would overcome pride, no cross to overcome the power of sin, no sacrifice to sanctify from the desires of the flesh, no Risen Savior that would give them Power to conquer Satan and his kingdom.

Whose way is best, yours or God’s? Why not let Him have His way today in your life?
