If Christ Be in You

"And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness." (Romans 8:10)

Jesus said, “Abide in me, and I in you. … the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me” (John 15:4)

Paul says here in Romans 8:10, “If Christ be in you…” In the very next verse (v 11) he uses the term “dwell in you”. To “dwell” means to occupy as in a house. When we were in sin the evidence showed through our lust of the flesh, our lust of the eye and our pride of life. This evidence of sin occupying  us was plain for all to see. John said this abiding sin makes us friends with the world and if we are a friend of the world then we are an enemy of God (I John 2:15,16).

What we needed was a transformation. Through the blood of Jesus Christ, and through the resurrecting power of the Holy Ghost, we receive a total transformation. Paul said “the Spirit …shall quicken your mortal body”. To quicken means “to make alive, to give life to”. Before Jesus moved into our lives, we were dead.  The evidence of His presence now living in us is life because of righteousness. Not our righteousness, but His righteousness. If the resurrection had not taken place, we would only have another sacrifice. The resurrection is what makes Christianity stand out from every other religion in the world. Nothing gave such a blow to Satan as when Jesus rose from the dead. Does He dwell in you? Has he changed your life? Are you living that separated life today. If not, let Christ be in you today!
