Are You Thirsty?
"The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the LORD will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.." Isaiah 41:17
Did you know that 75% of your total body weight is H2O (or water)? When the amount of water leaving the body is greater than that which is taken in you become dehydrated. We lose water when we breathe, sweat or pass through the urinary tract. As the level of water loss increases, symptoms become apparent, such as dry mouth, the eyes stop making tears, sweating may stop and lightheadedness (especially when standing). With severe dehydration, confusion and weakness will occur as the brain and other body organs receive less blood. Finally, coma and organ failure will occur if the dehydration remains untreated.
Now, think of this spiritually. The Holy Spirit is that water that we need flowing through us. When He stops flowing through us, we no longer weep like we used to, we don’t talk about the Lord like we used to, our thoughts become double-minded, we are confused as to what God’s will is for our lives. We feel spiritually weak, and the church begins to suffer from this failure of Spiritual dehydration. If you are thirsty today why not be like the Samaritan woman that asked Jesus “…give me this water so that I won't get thirsty…” (John 4:15). Jesus said in John 7:38 “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” Let’s let that river flow through us today.
